Josie's Bump Pics

One of the aspects I love about my job is the social interaction with people, both with clients & suppliers within the trade. I have known Josie nearly all the time I have been a photographer - over 10 years now.

Josie was the weddings co-ordinator @ Stowe Gardens, & was brilliant at what she did. We get on well, so when Josie enquired about photographing her bump, it was lovely to welcome her back as a client & friend to the studio - we had done some studio shots with Josie & some friends a few years ago.

There is nothing quite like the excitement & apprehension around the pregnancy & imminent arrival of a new member to your family, especially if it's your first. Josie wanted the shoot to be a suprise for her partner Nick, so we approached the shoot sensitively - Josie was initially cautiuous, wanting to ensure that the shots were done tastefully, but with a creative edge.

Soft lighting & dark backgrounds work best, creating the mood & atmosphere which helped to relax Josie, while Michelle & I worked together with Josie in creating these images.

As the shoot progressed, Josie became more relaxed & was great to work with. The results are stunning. We hope you like the shots, please feel free to leave a comment below.

We look forward to creating more beautiful images once the baby has arrived.

Thanks for being such a star Josie!

This Is Freedom - Chalet Girl break!

It's great when hard work is rewarded & even better when that is combined with a little bit of good fortune. So it was great to hear that local Aylesbury based band This Is Freedom managed
to get a couple of their songs onto the Sound track for the film Chalet Girl released last week. I love the opportunity to photograph live bands & it's been a privelege to watch This Is Freedom go from strength to strength

With the launch of the film, it was too good an opportunity to miss to get the band to play in the foyer of the local Odeon cinema in Aylesbury last Saturday, which they did several times during the day. They sound just as good acoustically unplugged as they do fully wired & it's great to hear how their vocals & particularly J's have come on in the last year. It was a shame we had the best weather for weeks, so it was fair to say it would have been great to see more people at the cinema.

The boys - John (lead vocals/guitar), Henry (guitar & vocals), Ben (Bass/vocals) & Dan (drums/rythm) have high energy & a great sound - the two songs on the film - Bad Company & No Regrets, stand out.

Fortunately, the band had an unplugged session @ The Harrow pub in the centre of Aylesbury planned for the evening. Space was a bit of a challenge, but the boys pulled off a great couple of sets, firstly unplugged & then wired later in the evening. It was great to be able to cover the events for them & let's hope that this might be the launch pad that gives them the recognition & the success they rightly deserve.

Well done lads, I'm proud of you!
